An interview with Angela Friis, IndieAZ Fest Director/Co-Founder
What is the inspiration behind the creation of IndieAZ Fest?
Me and My Business Partner Ann Cabano Love the Az film community we also wanted to make a difference to those in needs. We also just partnered up this year with Sandy Penny and Windy West.
Here is our quote from our website: “Making a difference in the community, while celebrating a community of talent through local fests.”
IndieAZ Fest is geared towards the Arizona Film Community. How is your festival received by local filmmakers and festival goers?
With enthusiasm because we celebrate them and we also honor them with awards plus they help to make a difference within the community just by submitting a film.
Are part of the festival’s profits donated to charity?
IndieAZ Fest is donating 10% of profits to Agnes’ Centers For Domestic SolutionsI
What can we expect from this year’s event?
It is a celebration red carpet event, so they can walk the red carpet, take photos do local interviews and we will have a VIP area to meet and greet with numerous celebrities prior to the event and since we are fighting Domestic Abuse and Raising awareness so this year we have an amazing celebrity speaking about her experience. We also will have an award ceremony plus a Rose Award which is in honor of my mom to one person who is an inspiration to not only themselves but to the community. Plus its a great networking events filled with amazing local talent.
Are there any surprises in store for attendees?
Of course but if I told you it would be a surprise.
Do you have a piece of advice for Arizona filmmakers who would like to make their first film?
